Academic Departments and Programs

Oberlin's community of committed faculty, staff, and students are united by a common desire to learn, explore, share, and lead, which is supported by a strong liberal arts program marked by rigor, creativity, and social engagement.

Oberlin's rich variety of academic departments represent many of the central disciplines of knowledge, from chemistry to English to sociology. Many departments are interdisciplinary in nature, which encourages collaboration and allows you to expand disciplinary boundaries, such as African American studies, Jewish studies, East Asian studies, and environmental studies.
